Motorcycle

"Why don’t you get your own motorcycle?" she asked him, as he was putting his helmet on.

"Why do I need one?" he asked and took his place behind her on the tiny scooter.

"Well, you don’t have to wait an hour for me to come and pick you up every day. It would be easier for you to have your own vehicle," she replied, thinking about all those times he had waited for her. It was practically everyday for the past couple of months.

"It wouldn’t be easier for me. And your office is just two blocks away, it makes total sense to wait for you and leave together," he smiled. "And why would we need two bikes in the same home? That would be too much pollution. And I am too lazy to drive."

"Excuses much?" she smiled.

"hmmm…Yes," he said as genuinely as he could. “Actually, I love our commutes together. I am glad that our workplaces are finally this close."

"But you are too tall for this tiny thing," she laughed. She knew it wasn’t easy for him to sit on that little scooter. He never complained though.

"Then, how about giving this fella off and taking a bus together to work," he suggested. "That way you I could see your face while I am talking to you and I’ll know for sure if you are blushing."

"Ha ha! Very funny. But you’ll still have to wait, my work ends an hour after yours.” she asked, a little concern ringing in her mellow voice.

"Thats fine. I will sit by the park and write some crazy songs and we can sing them together on our way home," he said quite seriously, as if he meant every single word. That’s the thing about him, he actually means everything he says. She finds it quite adorable.

"People will think we are crazy," she said, blushing. But she did secretly love the idea of singing songs in a bus.

"I don’t mind," he said sliding his arms around her, and resting his head on her shoulder.

"You sound very convincing, but who will want this old scooter?"

"The kid next door! He loved it for ages now. Retro is cool, he says"

“Ah! So, tonight?”

He nodded slightly, his head still on her shoulder.

Fifteen years of marriage. Two kids. One motorcycle (soon to be gifted), and two people in love.
